Constance “Connie” H. Cole - YWCA Employee

From 1966 to 2014, Connie Cole was a staff member with the Greater Providence Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA). In this capacity, Connie Cole assisted with coordination and planning for Y-teen events.

Ms. Cole was involved in the National YWCA sponsored building of an interpretive trail across the Gros Ventre slide area near Kelly, Wyoming, in 1966, as part of a National Forest Service teen work camp. She also worked as a YWCA waterfront camp counselor in Jamestown, Rhode Island. She also taught wilderness camping skills.

Ms. Cole also participated in marches and rallies protesting injustice and inequality, including the 1969 March on Washington, a mass demonstration to end the Vietnam conflict. She also volunteered with Norval D. Reece’s political campaign for the Senate in Pennsylvania in the spring of 1970. In the summer of 1970, she volunteered for the political campaign of Father Robert Drinan in Marlborough, Massachusetts. Her volunteer experience also includes working with the Clergy Consultation Service of Philadelphia.
